Guide To Tenerife South AirportQueen Sofia opened the Tenerife South International Airport in 1978. During the last 27 years, more than 165 million passengers have been using this airport. Due to the warm climate on the island, there are now more and more tourists coming to Tenerife during the winter months.
The airport is open 24 hours a day and provides a wide range on shops in which last-minute-souvenirs, food and drinks, toys, sweets, jewellery, tobacco and much more is on offer. Due to the large size of the airport there are also numerous cafes, cafeterias and restaurants available. A playground for children, a post office, a bank, a VIP lounge, 6 car hire desks, information services and two meeting facilities (Aena and Teide) are also at your disposition.
In the departures area there are 87 check-in desks and 37 boarding gates. The arrivals hall covers a total area of 3,050 square metres and can handle 2,700 people per hour. In the departures lounge you can find an assortment of shops and cafes. The arrivals area has the baggage reclaim carrousels and car hire desks.
