Getting To Madrid Barajas AirportThere are three airports in Madrid and Barajas is the main one for commercial travel. It is located just 13km to the northeast of Madrid.
Driving instructions to the airport from the centre of Madrid are quite easy as there are main access and ring roads. Two ways in which you can access Madrid Barajas Airport are via the M-30 from the city centre, join the A-2 or N-11 road to Barcelona ad take the airport exit at kilometer 12: from the M-40 exits 3 and 9 connect with the M-11 and N-100 respectively both lead directly to the terminals.

There are four terminals at Madrid Barajas airport and buses run from each one into the centre of Madrid. with lines 89 and 101 operating at fifteen minute intervals. The last buses for these two lines run at 23.25 and 02.00 respectively. Fares are approximately €1.15 per journey but you can purchase a special Metrobus ticket which entitles you t use the bus or underground for 10 journeys.
Other buses which operate from this airport are the 101 bus to Barajas and Canillejas, and the 89 to Colon.
Trains operating from this airport run via the Metro underground line with high speed trains such as RENFE and AVE being located a short journey via the Metro.
If you prefer to have your own transport rather than rely on the public system, then car rental can be arranged with one of the car hire companies which are located in every terminal at Madrid Barajas Airport.
