Getting To Granada AirportGranada Airport is situated near to the small town of Santa Fe on the plains of the River Genil. It is 16 km west of the historic city of Granada and handles mainly domestic flights to Barcelona, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca and Melilla. But its passenger traffic is increasing and it has recently become much more accessible with direct flights operating from the UK. RyanAir operates from London Stansted and Liverpool and Monarch Airlines fly there from London Gatwick.
There is no train service from the airport but seven buses a day run to the city centre. Because this is a particularly beautiful area of Spain it is well worth exploring, and the only really effective way to do this is by organizing car rental. Several leading car hire companies are represented at Granada Airport and their desks can be found in the arrivals hall.
Once you have organized your car rental you will be delighted to learn that the motorway network in this area is excellent offering links to the rest of mainland Spain and Europe with Seville two hours away, Madrid is a five hour drive, Barcelona takes eleven hours, the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort is just 40 minutes up the mountain and the beaches of the Costa del Sol and Malaga are 90 minutes away.
