Getting To Asturias AirportAsturias Airport is situated in the province of Castrillon, fourteen kilometres from the town of Aviles. It is one of the main airports in Northern Spain and is close to Oviedo and Gijon which can be reached on the N-632 motorway which also connects to A Coruna.
The only airline which flies direct to Asturias from the UK is Easyjet who operate from London Stanstead with two flights every day during the summer months. Over 95% of passenger traffic into this airport is via internal domestic flights from Alicante, Barcelona, Lanzarote, Madrid, Malaga, Palma, Seville, Tenerife and Valencia with the major operators being Iberia and Spanair.
As this is such a beautiful area of Spain the best way to explore the area is by car rental which can be arranged by one of the companies based in Aviles or at the airport.
There is no train service from the airport and the nearest station is in Aviles. There are buses which connect to Oviedo, Gijon and Aviles, with a single fare costing around €5.40.
There is a taxi rank outside the terminal building and a rough guide to fares is Oviedo will cost €45, Gijon €42 and Aviles €22.
All of the above reinforces the cost effectiveness of car rentals.
