Getting To Almeria AirportAlmeria rates second in Andalucía for the number of passengers it handles. A large number of tour operators fly there including British Airways and Iberia from Gatwick, Tarleton Travel, Monarch Airlines from Manchester, EasyJet from Gatwick and Stanstead, Ryanair from Stanstead, FlyBe and MyTravellite from Birmingham, AirBerlin.com, Almeriaflights.com and re also a number of internal flights from Barcelona, Madrid, Melilla and Palma de Mallorca which are normally handled through Spanair, Air Europe and Iberia.
There is no train service from the airport but there are buses which run at forty minute intervals during daylight hours, 45 minutes in the evening with the last bus at 22.35, and every 80 minutes at weekends. The cost of a ticket into town is around 85 cents.
You can get a taxi from the rank outside the arrivals hall, but because this is such a beautiful area of Spain it is worth considering car rental. You can arrange this before your trip with one of the excellent car rental companies based at Almeria Airport either on line, by fax or telephone. They will ensure there is a car awaiting your arrival for the next stage of your journey. Car rental also works out as the cheapest option in the long run with the approximate costs of taxi rides to nearby resorts being €15 into Almeria, €24 into Aguadulce, €75 into Mojacar and €35 into Roquetas de Mar.
The airport is just nine kms to the east of the city centre and 500 metres fro the coast. The neighbouring towns are El Alquain and Costacabana. The roads are well signposted in this area and the transport communication links are well designed to make driving and getting around very easy.
