Exploring La Gomera AirportThe airport at La Gomera opened in 1999 and is an important transport communication link for the islanders and tourists. Passenger traffic has tripled over the past six years with 34,492 passengers, 3,396 flight operations and 6 tonnes of cargo being handled there in 2005.
There is a multimedia shop here where you can purchase cigarettes and magazines, a cafeteria and several desks for rent a car companies in the arrivals hall.
The upper peaks and plateaus of this densely wooded island are almost permanently surrounded in swirling mist. The only way you can view the lush tropical vegetation here is by a long walk uphill or by renting a car. There are several car hire companies to choose from at the airport. A trip to the Garaionay National Park which has UNESCO recognition is an absolute must.
