Almeria Airport
Exploring Almeria AirportSituated just eight kilometres from the city centre on the Nijar Road, Almeria Airport has a bus (number 14) which rungs into town every forty minutes from Av Frederico Lorca which is next to a Pizza Hut. The most popular method of getting around this area is rent a car which can be arranged with one of the car hire companies based in the arrivals hall
The passenger traffic through this airport reached a record 1,073,585 passengers during 2005, which is quite a rise from the 750,000 which were logged in 1996.
The arrivals hall is quite small with four baggage reclaim areas, various rent a car companies, travel agents and tour operators near the exit and buses and taxis outside the terminal building. If you are renting a car during your stay, then you should check in at the appropriate desk where you will have to sign some paperwork for the car to be released.
After you have checked in and cleared customs you head downstairs to the lower ground floor where there is a duty free shop and restaurant. There are five boarding gates for aircraft and the airport has two active runways which run parallel with the sea.
The taxi rank and bus stop can be found outside the arrivals area. If you are planning to get the bus make sure you have some small change on you as the bus drivers will not change large denominations of currency.
The top floor at the airport is for administration purposes but there are terraces for passengers and visitors and a good cafeteria here. It can also be used as an extra departure hall during peak times.
